Flora & Fold
Paintings, crafts, and more
Inspired by flora and the traditions of origami
Est. 2024
When I was 12 years old, my grandma was battling lung cancer. I had just learned in school about the story of Sadako Sasaki, a girl suffering from complications due to the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Believing that she would be granted a wish if she made a thousand paper cranes, she spent much of her time folding and wished for a full recovery. Inspired by this story, I began folding paper cranes for my grandma. With the help of my mom, we folded and folded, wishing for her good health. We flew 1,042 folded cranes to China with us, and though cancer eventually did take my grandma, the cranes brought her joy and hope in her last months.
Many years later, I was searching for these feelings of happiness and hopefulness that I felt I had lost. I turned back to folding cranes, which led to more creative endeavors. Wanting to share them with the world, I created Flora & Fold, a shop full of artwork that hopefully inspires positive feelings and thoughts. Making these products has brought me so much joy, and I hope it brings you some too. Thanks for stopping by!
