About Alice

Currently based in Atlanta, Georgia, Alice Hong is an international award-winner both as a violinist and composer. One of CBC’s 2018 edition “30 Hot Classical Musicians Under 30”, Alice’s compositions have been praised as "beautifully cinematic" and "stunning" (EarRelevant) and have been played by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Niagara Symphony, Georgian Bay Symphony, Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra, Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, Amersfoort Youth Orchestra, and more. As a violinist, Alice has performed in 28 countries and frequently joins orchestras across the USA and Canada as a guest violinist including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Toronto Symphony Orchestra, among others. Upcoming performances include appearing as a violin soloist with Alpharetta Symphony and a performance by Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra and Jesús Castro-Balbi of her piece, “Zhulong” (2020) for cello and string orchestra.

Alice’s compositions have been performed throughout the United States, Canada, Hungary, the Netherlands, Sweden and China. Alice has been commissioned by Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Georgia Tech Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Summer Music, Lövstabruks Kammarmusikfestival, Chamber Music @ New Park, ensemble vim, and principal members of the New York Philharmonic, National Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Toronto Symphony, and Buffalo Philharmonic. Her works have won multiple awards from the ASCAP Morton Gould Awards as well as first prize at the International Keuris Competition, Carl E. Baldassarre Composer-Virtuosi Competition, NorCal Viola Society Commission Contest, Pikes Peak Composition Competition, and prizes at the 2024 Rapido! Cycle 7 Composition Competition, 2021 „Steirischer TonkünstlerBund“ International Composition Competition and the Lands End Ensemble Composition Competition.

In the summer, Alice performs at festivals such as Colorado Music Festival, The Hamptons Festival of Music, and Highlands Chamber Music Festival, among others. Alice has also performed her own compositions at venues and events such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, Spoleto Festival USA, and Heifetz on Tour. As an avid chamber musician, Alice has performed alongside esteemed musicians such as James Ehnes, Frans Helmerson, Mihaela Martin, Jonathan Crow, New Orford String Quartet, and Barry Shiffman, among others. Her performances have been featured on CBC Radio, WABE 90.1 Atlanta and WSMR 89.9 Tampa. 

Alice earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Toronto under the private tutelage of Jonathan Crow, as well as a Master of Music degree from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music as a Dorothy R. Starling Foundation Scholar studying with Cho-Liang Lin and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music with David Updegraff. Alice started her acting journey in October 2019, with her first project being the upcoming Netflix movie "Red Notice" (2021) starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. She is represented by STW Talent Agency.
